Something old, wrapped in something…awesome

I recently watched the ESRI UC video on what’s coming next for ESRI, and ArcGIS. They showed a preview of something called ArcGIS Professional, which will essentially replace ArcGIS for Desktop. It comprises all the features we longed for in ArcMap – better editing, a ribbon (which enables all labelling dialogs to be in one contextual tab), integrated 3D, 64-bit application (!), multiple layouts…

I’m excited because I can see where the software is moving towards, and adapting this look and feel gives ArcGIS a more familiar feel especially for newer users. We are geo-enabling everything because guess what, everything is spatial.
